Sick Day (yesterday)

I woke up yesterday with horrible stomach pain. Ugh! I won't say much about it, because honestly no one wants to know...but I had to lay flat or be within a few feet of the bathroom all day. Yuck!

Thankfully Harry was a gem and took a good nap and played well...no tantrums or anything! Josh came home for lunch to help a little, and my brother played with him in the afternoon. I managed to get through the day until Josh was home for the evening! Thank you Jesus!

Today began with no more stomach pain! A serious answer to prayer! I did have a horrible headache when I woke up, to be expected after nearly 36 hours of laying down, but now I'm slowly becoming human again. It's amazing what being able to sit does ;) and thanks to a healthy breakfast smoothie I'm hoping to kick this to the curb and get on with summer!

Also, sunshine today is the perfect medicine!

A Verse for Harrison

I was reading on The Anderson Crew a while back, about how she chooses a verse for each of her children. If I remember correctly, she chooses a new verse each year to really focus on as she prays for and with each of her (six!?!) kids.

She inspires me!

More than anything I want my son to know who Jesus is, and how much He loves him. Sure I'd like for him to help out with chores down the road, and be a good friend...but all of that will work itself out if Harry grows up knowing how deep God's love is for him.

As time continues to move (way to quickly), new stages will come up and I know there will be specific verses in Scripture that I will pray of Harrison. But since he was a baby here is the verse that has stuck with me, a "life verse" if you will that I pray will become a deep truth in Harry's life as grows up!

Making Some Changes

I am married to a dreamer and a goal setter. My husband has always dreamed big and set to achieve even the loftiest of his goals...and then the crazy thing is that he sticks with it.

He has climbed Mount Rainier, ridden his bike from Seattle to Portland (the STP) twice three times. He taught himself to play the guitar. He competed nationally as an olympic weightlifter, until he had to have back surgery. The list goes on.

Josh and I couldn't be more different.

But I want to be better about working toward the things that are important to me. His drive and determination have inspired me to rearrange my priorities and truly make time for the things that inspire me.

So that's where this blog comes in.

Blogging is something I have done for the past few years, and while I have a number of blogs that I read on a regular basis, my own blogging has been hit or miss.

I love to write, and take pictures. But I have trouble finding time to sit down and share them here on my blog. My goal this year has been to make a change in this area. The main things I enjoy online are sharing photos and reading blogs...so I'm going to focus my attention on those things here at Wrapped in Delight.

I want my blog to be a space where I can be creative and share that with others (even if it is only a few people). I decided a while ago to categorize my posts into the following topics:

Jesus
marriage
motherhood
things that inspire me
my home
the everyday
photography
what I am thankful for

On the right column you will find "blog buttons" that will link you to all of my posts that pertain to these topics.

They've been there for a couple of months now, but I thought I'd write a post to explain why they are there. Click one and see if it helps you get to know me a little better.

.    .    .

[Disclaimer: Some of the topics get far more posts than others, but my goal is to be better about writing on a variety of topics, other than the usuals (ie: posts about Harry, or just everyday stuff). Thanks for having some patience with me as I work on bettering my blog!]

daily dose of summer | number 2

Might be hard to tell, this pic ended up being a little busy...but I'm getting my kitchen drawers wiped out and organized one at a time! Feels so good, and it's actually hard for me to stop at just one ;)

We're trying to really stick to a budget this summer which means no extra treats. That's why this macchiato was so enjoyable today...my hubby surprised me with a treat compliments of a gift card he received for Father's Day.

And after more meltdowns by a certain (almost) 17-month-old than I would like to admit...this coffee was much needed today!

This is the view from my couch right now, where I plan to hang out until bedtime. And no I don't plan on picking up a single toy. Josh is working and Harry is currently saying "no" in his crib because who wants to sleep when you've barely napped and are exhausted?! He'll be conked out in the next 15 minutes.

Oye!

How was your Monday?! Hopefully you had an enjoyable and productive moment , even if the rest of your day was lame! ;)

daily dose of summer | number 1

My "goal" this summer is to do something ENJOYABLE  and PRODUCTIVE every day.

Instead of booking up my calendar with to-do's, I'm planning on taking life one day at a time and finding some balance as I go along.

My vision for this is to be flexible...knowing that I can't do "it all" every day, but that I can do one small enjoyable thing, and something productive each day. This could be ranging from drinking a cup of tea to laying in the sun and reading a book. Or on the productive end, tidying up Harry's toys, putting the dishes away, cleaning up one messy drawer in the kitchen...basically most anything counts ;) I'm just choosing to claim a moment each day as being either enjoyable or productive.

This seems simple enough for me to manage. And I'll be (attempting to) post many of these small moments here on my blog. I'm not promising that I'll be consistent but let's shoot for a handful of posts highlighting my summer "goal"!

Here's to a summer of small moments to treasure!

.    .    .

Uploading photos on my computer is enjoyable to me. Especially when paired with dark chocolate! Don't judge ;)

This may be a "chore" but I'm considering it my productive deed of the day. Don't ask when it will all get put away, but it's clean and folded. Whew!

The Last Day

It's June 20th, and I'm awake which means....

No. More. Wake Ups. Until. SUMMER!

Wahoo!

Today I say farewell to my fifth group of first graders. Which means (give or take) that I've had between about 125 students over the past five years.

How did that happen?!

Tomorrow, I get to sleep in wake up around the same time (thanks to Harry)...but the great thing is that I just get to be home. I will have time to clean my house (something I've been neglecting the past month, or two...) and most importantly spend time with my little man.

I'm so thankful right now! Working and being mom is a stretch at times, but I couldn't ask for a better career, seriously what other job guarantees that you get to have two months off every year and a few nice breaks in between?

Happy (almost) summer folks!

I'm also looking forward to getting crafty and posting about it here on my blog. So stay tuned. I know I've been quiet lately, but I've just needed to disconnect a bit. But I'm coming back.

Get ready! ;)

Friday Laughs

Last night we spent some time over at my parent's house. We stayed a few minutes too long and Harry had reached his over-tired cranky point.

We couldn't stop laughing at the conversation he had with us in the car!

Enjoy :)

Apparently, no means NO!

Happy Friday.

Gahh!

I have a love/hate relationship with June. This year it's been particularly hectic with a toddler, wedding out of town that we went to, my brothers high school graduation festivities...not to mention report cards (that I need to start)!

I am worn out.

Here is a little iPhone photo dump, because I don't have anything thoughtful or eloquent to say ;)

Morning Harry is my favorite!

Oldie but goody. Such a chunk-master!!!

Peas. Everywhere.

Just reversing my cop car and smashing all the peas. No big deal mom! ;)

Favorite bible app ever! :) Also love this verse!

Today was our Coast Guard field trip.

No wonder I'm so exhausted! TGI(almost)W. I wish it were Friday already, but I'll take almost Wednesday.

Hope in the Word of God!

I have been reading this verse lately, and praying that Jesus would help me have a love for His Word.

Happy Wednesday! :)

She Reads Truth: Jesus is FAITHFUL

Happy 1st Birthday to She Reads Truth!

SheReadsTruth

So...this is my lame attempt at making a vlog. But Jesus is FAITHFUL and I wanted to share with you how He has been working in my life over the past year through She Reads Truth.

Here's the link to see more evidences of God's work (via vlogs) through She Reads Truth.

Please don't judge...I'm terrible at making videos ;) lol!
