Craft-Room-Palooza!

Not sure that "Palooza" is a real word but it sums up what I've been doing every night after Harry goes to bed.

I'm not completely finished but I'm loving the new layout of my new and improved craft room (complete with a paper crafts table, and a separate desk for my sewing projects):

Preparing for Easter

I haven't bought Harry an Easter basket yet, or really even decorated much. But the best thing I've been doing is reading along with SheReadsTruth.com. This site is AMAZING if you haven't checked it out. They have Bible reading plans with both devotional content and Scripture.

Here's the link to the current plan: Holy Week.

It's not too late to join in.

Check out the She Reads Truth website and be encouraged. They have instagram as well.

Easter is ALL ABOUT JESUS and I'm so thankful for what it means that not only did Jesus die to save me, He also rose and is alive today. No other religion worships a LIVING SAVIOR!

He is Risen,

He is Risen INDEED!!!

Making "Printables" :)

For the longest time I've been wanting to learn how to create printables. I've been using a free online graphic design program (similar to Adobe Illustrator) to try and get my feet wet.

This is the first design that I came up with.

Very basic, but I kind of like it :)

Here are two of the ladies who are my inspiration!

Of Late...

[At almost 14 months, here are some notes on Harry...in no particular order]

He stands for about 90% of his bath. He is more confident in his standing ability during bath-time for some reason.

He has 11 teeth!

The only steps he's taken are with assistance (from furniture, people, or this little walking toy we borrowed from a family member - Thanks Denise!).

He likes to hit, especially me. I've tried time out a few times...but I'm still trying to figure out this whole "discipline" thing.

Last night he kept saying something that sounded like "Hi Dad". Hilarious and adorable!

Climbing stairs, and guitars, are pretty much the most exciting things ever invented.

Harry drums. On everything. Literally EVERYTHING!

He enjoys dancing and knows which toys play his favorite songs. He also sings along sometimes in a soft voice (precious).

He has a death grip. Don't take his toothbrush away from him. He is VERY serious about his dental hygiene!

The boy is ticklish: under his chin, on the back of his neck, on his feet, his thighs...pretty much everywhere.

He fake laughs.

Mushrooms are his favorite food. Also peas...but mostly because they squish and/or fly across the room when he tries to squish them. Highly entertaining.

SLEEP

Harry slept all night! This hasn't happened in quite a while, so I had to document. Wahoo for a whole night of uninterrupted sleep! :)

Every Night

I have the best of intentions, but the last thing I seem to be able to do once Harry is asleep is think straight.

So rather than write (about a funny thing that happened this evening, or my attempt at putting Harry into a timeout for hitting me) I'm in bed and about to fall asleep. 8:30 feels "late" to me these days. I'm hoping the change of seasons will help me stay up past 9:00 like a normal person. Maybe then I will actually be able to post something meaningful on here.

Until then...I'm off to bed so I can do it all over again tomorrow. ;)

Glimpse into the Future

Today my class went on a field trip with the rest of the first grade classes at my school. Field trip days are always equal parts excitement and exhaustion. Some of my students got to ride a bus for the first time today. Watching their faces and listening to their comments as we approached the "big city" were priceless.

Aside from watching over 100 kids grasping in the air for imaginary butterflies that were flying through the IMAX theater (3D), my favorite moment was on the bus-ride home.

It's going to get super corny right now, so don't say I didn't warn you! ;)

Several students fell asleep (something I wanted to do, but couldn't for obvious reasons). Nothing better than falling asleep in a moving vehicle on the freeway.

I digress...

As I glanced over at one little boy who was completely passed out, mouth open and all, it reminded me of Harrison. This little boy looked so peaceful, and so much younger to me.  For a moment I could almost see Harrison in his sleeping face, and realized that in a very short time my baby will be a little boy. Already I find that Harry only seems like "my baby" when he's sleeping (or tired)...but I am thankful for the reminder today that no matter how old Harrison gets, he will always be "my baby".

Seeing this all written down makes it sound even dorkier than when I was thinking about it. Prior to being a mom I would have rolled my eyes. But something's changed; having my own little person to love, nurture, and raise up into a young man has given me a new perspective.

I have no idea what the future will bring, or what kind of person Harrison will become. But I know that every night when he's fast asleep I will be able to see at least a glimpse of my sweet baby in that peaceful face.

Pretty sure when I read "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch on Mother's Day this year, there will be no holding back the tears. It has taken on a whole new meaning to me as I've become more familiar with this whole adventure called motherhood. If you've never read the book, I recommend having a tissue ready!

10/52

Look who was playing with the pictures above his crib during his nap! It's moved farther away from the wall now, and I think it's time to lower the mattress again. Could you please slow down on the growing Harry?!

Saturday Fun :)

We celebrated my father-in-law's 60th birthday and retirement. Harry had a blast playing with bubbles with his cousins Braden and Eli!

Also today, his bottom canine tooth came through (which makes 10 teeth; he cut a molar a couple weeks ago). In other news, Harry puts up one finger when you tell him he's one, and was trying to snap earlier today too.

He is literally changing every day!

Days Like Today

I usually like Wednesdays. Today, I'm just thankful that tomorrow I get a do-over.

Here's to making it past the halfway point in the week.

Also, I took this pic at a stoplight. Don't judge.

Speaking of which, it's 7:24 and I'm in my bed. No shame in that ;)

Evening Ramblings

Between a late afternoon snuggle/nap, kisses while playing the piano before bed, and saying mama as he drifts to sleep...this boy has me smitten this evening! He also threw a tantrum after his bath because a) he loves playing during his bath but Lord help you when you try to get him out and b) this kid is not a night person! When he's ready for bed, he's READY!

I'm not much of a night person either so bedtime by 7:30 is fine with me.

Weekend Recap: Easy Like Sunday

Friday started off right, with a full night's sleep and a coffee before work...the barista even spelled my name right. Pretty sure that has/will never happen again.

One of my students wrote this:

I died laughing when I read it. It's supposed to be a "specialist" book about a topic he's passionate about, and up until this point was focused on sculpting...I will have to ask him about this on Monday ;)

Currently I'm sipping a Starbucks Via, peppermint mocha. YUM! And in one of my favorite mugs too (ignore Harry's Sophie teether and book):

And I'm listening to my stud-of-a-husband play his guitar (who did all the grocery shopping for us on his own today, score) while I work on my report card comments.

Where is our son? Oh he's just taking his second long nap of the day.

And Josh and I deep cleaned our entire downstairs all before 10am today. BAM! Talk about a wonderful and productive weekend.
