I cannot believe how much you are growing and changing
these days. Nine months old…officially “out” as long as you were growing in my
belly. As much as I enjoyed being pregnant with you…having you around has been
a million times better! You are truly our sunshine, especially now that it’s
gotten rainy again. My favorite time of the day is always when I see you first
thing in the morning, and on work days when I come home from work to see you
and Daddy playing, or napping if you’ve been playing hard with Landon and need
an extra nap before dinner.
I know I’m almost a week late writing this letter to
you, but I wanted to wait until after your first Halloween so that I could
include photos. On Saturday night we had our 2nd Annual Halloween
Bunco Party and you definitely won the “cutest costume” award. We dressed you
up as Harry Potter and you looked adorable! Everyone thought you were the
cutest Harry Potter…especially your Dad and I. Then last night you
“trick-or-treated” at both of your grandparent’s houses. We dressed you in a
cozy lion costume, which was also a hit. At both houses all you wanted to do
was stand and bang on the coffee tables.
Standing is definitely your favorite thing to do
lately. At the beginning of October you
would arch your back whenever I tried sitting you down, but thankfully you
don’t do that as often. You do however prefer standing to any other position. We’ve
seen you try pulling up but once you got your bottom off the ground you were
stuck. I don’t think it’ll be long before you’re able to pull yourself up
though, because now you know that coffee tables usually have fun, non-baby
stuff on them. I have to say thank you though for waiting this long to really
get moving around…it’s been nice to hold off on “baby proofing” the house.
Let’s see, what else can I say about this past month?
You traveled again, but this time to California. It was a whirlwind trip but we
had a blast celebrating your “uncle” Lloyd and “auntie” Elizabeth’s wedding. It
was an incredible party, and you were a champ—sleeping through most of the
evening, only to wake up and join us on the dance floor at the end of the
night.
The biggest challenge of this month has been the fever
you had last week. Your temperature got up to 104 at one point and we hated
seeing you feel so sick. Thankfully you’re back to your normal self now, but
for a few days it was pretty miserable! There were lots of extra snuggles and I
took my first sick day to take care of a sick baby instead of myself. So glad
you are happy and healthy again sweet boy!
You are still one of the biggest babies we know. You
weigh 26.5 lbs and are 30 inches tall already! You’re in size 5 diapers (the
same as kids we know who are 2-years-old!) and wear 24 month/2T clothes. At
least this month you had a break from teething. Seriously Harry…you are a
growing machine! Thankfully the rate you are growing has slowed down a bit so
that we can get some use out of your clothes. I am so curious to see what kind
of a kid you grow into. Maybe you’ll be really tall and thin and no one will
ever believe what a chunk you were as a baby. No matter what, we love you just
the way you are! Plus your chubby thighs, chin and belly are perfect for
tickling! ;)
Life is still busy around here with the holiday season
approaching, and the school year off to a good start. Mommy has conferences
coming up so I don’t feel like I can really relax until Thanksgiving, but I am
so looking forward to having a few breaks coming up so I can spend some extra
time with you and your Daddy. By then I think you’ll be able to enjoy some
yummy Thanksgiving food since you’ve been eating chunkier baby food lately, and
love feeding yourself these little rice puff things.
You have little curls growing in the back of your hair,
you love to clap and listen to music (especially with your Dad), and can now
say: dada, doy, ba, na, and ya, but haven’t said mama yet. I could go on and
on…there are so many little things each day that make me so thankful for you.
But someday when you read these letters I can already hear you saying “Oh
Mom…enough already” so I’ll stop here for now.
I love you Sweet Pea. You are truly a JOY in so many
ways.
Love Always,
